Why your DNS settings sometimes take several hours to take effect—and why there’s no reason to worry.

Depending on the provider, your DNS settings may take effect in a few minutes… or up to 48 hours: this is known as “DNS propagation.” A “Not yet visible” status that lasts a few hours is nothing to worry about: nothing is lost, and we constantly monitor the process.

Why the delay?

Internet service providers keep the old DNS settings in cache for a certain amount of time before updating to the new ones. This delay is beyond the control of both WebAcappella and you: it varies from provider to provider, and it always eventually expires.

While you wait

  • No need to stay on the page: the check is automatic, every 5 minutes.
  • You’ll receive an email as soon as your domain is active.
  • Your site remains online at the provided address throughout the waiting period.
